I am so thankful for another wonderful, blessed mission trip to the south.  Mississippi is still in a state of rebuilding, as are other areas of the gulf coast since Hurricane Katrina.  I talked to a lot of people while there about the rebuilding effort and their stories are similar.  We still need help.  Different in other ways as to which area needs it the most.

We spent our week on three roofs and completed each one.  The homeowners were grateful for the work we did.  I gave the prayer shawls to one homeowner and the other went to Dee and Jack Boreing.  They run Camp Hope and it was my thought that they deserved the other shawl because they need to be appreciated for the work they do.

I believe God puts you right where you need to be and that was very evident on our second morning there.  Went back to home number one to finish and I gave the homeowner her prayer shawl.  She began telling us about her family.  She has struggled since the storm and has lost several close family members.  She lost her mother to cancer, a niece was murdered and seven months later her own son was murdered.  I stood there not able to fathom what this family has gone through when her brother came up to our little huddle and said to us “yea it all happened to me too.”  We were just getting ready to pray for her when he came to us and we gathered him (literally) into our “fold” and he asked if we would pray for him as he was an alcoholic.  We loved and prayed over these two people and held them up to the Lord, and oh how the Holy Spirit moved on that front yard.  There are pictures someone from our group took on a cell phone and those who were on the roof just stopped to take it all in.  It is marvelous how God uses us right where we are!  I always ask God to use me when and where He sees fit.  Are you attentive to what God is asking you to do?  Do you look for ways to let His light shine in you?  I know I miss opportunity sometimes, but I try to be aware of what is going on around me in case God gives me another one of His “God Moments”.

Working as Jesus hands and feet so others will know He lives!
