Church News

March 2010 - Current Newsletter "The Messenger"

March 1, 2010 - If you have not experienced the wonderful food and fellowship we are enjoying each Sunday evening at 5:30 PM. Please come and join us at St. John's United Methodist Church for a simple potluck meal and our Evening Bible Hour.

Please bring the children.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14.

See you there.

February 26 and 27, 2010 - Our youth participated in the World Vision, National "30 Hour Famine" fund raiser for World Vision. The youth have done the Famine event throughout the years and the one thing that never changes is the impact it has on them. You can help them through the fasting by praying for them. You can also help them to feed children that are starving around the world by sponsoring them. The youth each have a goal of $350.00 each with an overall goal of $ 3000.00. If they reach this goal they have a challenge for me. To date, they have raised $ 2100.00, however you may still donate to the cause.Thank you - Dixie

December 13, 2009 - "Through New Eyes" - "Our Christmas Cantata"

This year’s Christmas Cantata was great. It was a bit different from the traditional as it was an evening “Through New Eyes” of that first Christmas through the thoughts of those who were there that night long ago. Our choirs along with soloists and readings by Juanita Runnion took us on a journey that featured a Nativity story slide show along with the retelling of the Christmas Story through word, choral music, bells, and congregational carols. It was a wonderful journey through the eyes of those who were there!

Thank you all who performed.

All Pumpkin Rolls were sold - It was a great success - THANK YOU

October 9 - 10, 2009 - Pancake Breakfast – Boy Scout troop 437 participated in the Black Walnut Festival by providing a great pancake breakfast at the church. While this is a fundraiser for the troop, it provided a good early morning service to festival goers and community members to get things started for the festival each morning. One benefit, as a large number of folks showed up for the breakfast, it became a great place to see friends and neighbors, re-new old friendships, and even make new friends.

A big "Thank You" to the members of Boy Scout Troop 437
